Despite the risks mentioned above, there are still many documented benefits of mindfulness. But, as the adage goes: if you only have a hammer, everything can look like a nail. The reality is that we need many tools in the"mental health toolbox" for a variety ofsituations life will throw our way: what about the saw, screwdriver, or pliers? A contributing factor is that we live in a consumerist, capitalist country. It has been overly commodified, its origins partially distorted.
This is a trend that has been bothering me for awhile now. Every book you pick up regarding mental health struggles, recovery, healing from trauma.. the very first thing in there is MINDFULNESS. It should not be pushed as the cure to everything.
Here in mandated education States Health Care should be Incorporated during all levels of education
I have found that it is not for everyone.. 🤔
I love mindfulness, it has helped me heal so much. But I also found that I can misuse it and ignore facing my problems.
The question here is to know what is the subject of my mindfulness? For people suffering from depression for example, it is advised to practice positive meditation, to let go of the negative emotions. Tools for that should be provided to the patient.
