As a multiple of forward earnings, shares of Lululemon are now trading at roughly where they were before the pandemic, while Levi’s is trading at higher levels. Is the denim business suddenly more promising today than it was before Covid-19? Apparel companies certainly think so. Levi Strauss, in its recent earnings call, said it was seeing the start of a new denim cycle—
Another reason investors are bullish is that denim is seen as the perfect bridge from the comfortable clothes consumers got used to while staying home and the dressier outfits they used to wear, according to Jay Sole, analyst at UBS. This cycle might be different; Levi’s could do better precisely because it is known and sought for its classic styles, which happen to match what customers currently want.
Paywalls... blah!
Levis have devolved into a crap brand. I'm only slightly embarrassed to say that Walmart brand jeans last about a year, are very comfortable and cost $17. I really hate when companies like Levis lose their way.
'Fashion trend below the waist'? My kilt has never let me down.
Lululemon has taken no power position in marketing to o create stretch denim tight fit leggins, to design fresh new bottoms for women instead of simply riding on what was huge in the past. NO wonder their stock diving.
Let me guess: the world gained weight during the pandemic and now needs to buy larger jeans because their old jeans are too small. Leggings are still in. We just bought all we need for the moment. Leggings will never be “out.”
“Levi Strauss, in its recent earnings call, said it was seeing the start of a new denim cycle—away from skinny jeans to a high-rise, looser fit”... You kidding me? Loose jeans look lousy!
They sold out by going overseas years ago. Since then I quit buying them.
Vintage high-waisted jeans are sooo uncomfortable. I sat in a pair for hours a week or two ago and wound up with bruises at the waistband. They were, however, really good for my posture.
Levis quality has gone south for decades. Cheaper material, really stupid tactics like taking an inch off the crotch for the 505 line to cut material use in the name of a better fit. Instead the pants fall down. Need belt. WTF?
Did you notice this tweet is PROMOTED? IT'S AN AD. Come to the SW where I live. Lulemon ain't taking over Levi's.
Real Cowboys/girls prefer Wranglers. The denim is softer, more pliable, making it easier to throw a leg over the saddle. Levis were always 'miner's' pants—they needed to stand up to the constant abrasion in the mines (Wh was the mkt Levi Strauss invented 'em for, there in SF Cal)
Why are all jeans now stretchy and why do they permanently stink of chemicals?
I got your fashion below the waist right here, pal.
Only Jeans I wear. You can bury me in them. Should be American grown Cotton though.
I, for one, support the realignment to yoga pants.
Hypocrisy, DISHONESTY, incompetence are accurate and exact terms to DEFINE the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION that is so far far away and out of touch from the AMERICAN people they would be better off representing another country. BIDEN HARRIS are both active in criminal border drug action
Current Levi's are crap as far as quality is concerned. I'll stick with the classic, vintage, USA made, sturdy, 100% cotton ones I find in thrift shops and estate sales.
Levi has a branding problem
When the Haas Bros Owned Levi's they were the Kings of the Denim Market, but they allowed so many new creative designed Jean Companies to enroach on their market share & image, Levi's was no longer a must wear Jean.
what’s the verdict on jeggings? asking for a friend.
4 way stretch 4 ever.
I guess heavyset guys remain outside of the target market. From what I see in the market, it is assumed that at man's crotch length is proportional to his waist size. All makers do is chop off the leg length. At least below-the-wait pants fit closer to a heavyset man's waist
Nice. I just purchased two pairs of Levi’s within the last quarter. Fall into the “trendy” trap once in a-blue-moon, end up tossing the jeans or giving them to Salvation Army. Not a fan of stretch. 💯 percent cotton can be difficult to find...Jeans or khakis? Why is that.
Yes
Levis needs some roots return, Lou Lou lemond can not be considered a fashion brand honestly... just a brand
denim is seen as the perfect bridge from the comfortable clothes consumers got used to while staying home and the dressier outfits they used to wear
Jeans will never go out of style but LOTS of people should NEVER wear leggings!
