The Frustrated Travelers Battling for Refunds

The feds have warned airlines that they must offer travelers a refund when the airline cancels a flight.

Some airlines are doing what they should. But a sampling of reader responses to last week’s column shows people still running into drawn-out fights for refunds and rebookings with airlines. Travelers are still finding headaches when dealing with online booking agencies, cruise lines and others, too. While travel plans vanished overnight because of the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of travel issues remain up in the air.

vrbo and CSATP denied our claim with a canned response. Pointless to purchase insurance if it's going to be denied after submitting a doctor's note that doesn't allow a Stage IV cancer patient to travel. I'm so disgusted. boycottCSATP

My $3000 vanished overnight vrbo. We are healthy and safe and I am thankful for that. But your host’s words? “get away from the stress of Covid 19”. We couldn’t fly out of our own country. And you’ve done nothing but give us our service fees. I’m not letting this go.

vrbo and CSATP have been downright criminal in their response to this. I’m never using them again.

Expedia is a total joke. Stopped using them years ago due to horrible customer service. expedia

there is a special place in hell for people and companies who would rather keep the money for a service that is never going to be rendered...

They are a bunch of thieves. Plain and simple. And let's not leave travel insurance companies out of it. Some of nonsense I've heard from airlines and places like cheapoair is unbelievable. Their lobbying efforts have insulated them from every shred of responsibility.

That's why you do your research on sites like those, but never EVER book anywhere but the actual carrier's site. (Same goes for lodging and car rentals.)

Call your CC Company and Dispute the charges due to Cancelled Flights and Closed Down Hotels! You can never get a hold of a human neither online or on the Phone!
