Steven McCraw, director of Texas Department of Public Safety, said Friday that the commander on scene during the Uvalde, Texas, made "the wrong decision" in deciding not to breach the classrooms where the gunman had barricaded himself with students and teachers sooner.McCraw said the commander considered the gunman barricaded and did not consider it an active-shooter situation despite 911 calls from inside the classrooms from a teacher and students inside. This is a breaking story. Please check back for details.
NicolleDWallace I was listening to the police commander of Oxford Mi speak about their recent school shooter. They entered and stopped the shooter within 4 minutes of arrival because their department protocol is to confront the shooter as quickly as possible. That should be standard protocol.
NicolleDWallace IT WAS A DEADLY DECISION NOT JUST WRONG. HAS HE RESIGNED YET?
They stood around in safety, and stopped parents (without the cops' guns and armor) from going in to take their place. That's not a 'wrong decision', that's fighting on the murderer's side. Can we finally recognize that cops are mechanisms of oppression, not protectors?
FUCKING DUH
NicolleDWallace You DON'T STOP Responding as though people are ALIVE until you have made entry and can confirm the situation!
There will be no consequences. No one will be fired or disciplined. Heck, they might even be called heroes for simply showing up.

Apparently that oath 'to protect and serve' doesn't apply to Texas DPS. Airports and courthouses are more valued than our schools. Why? It is abundantly clear that judges and the FAA care more about their safety than your children's. Add law enforcement, to that protected class.
This guy is going down. His actions will be made to be the issue. Until the next massacre.
Duh
Interesting and heartbreaking to note the demographic disparities between the Uvalde police and the predominantly Latino student/community population. Horrifying to think that played a role in the PD’s inaction.
At the very minimum, this person should face multiple charges of gross negligence of man slaughter or the equivalent under US law - two of the deceased children had called 911… unforgivable
Cowards! The police were terrified of these AR15s too. Enough! This is not ok.
🛑UvaldeMassacre Presser Texas DPS Director verifies: “Wrong decision” to wait to breach door, that ‘incident commander’ made on-site decision shooter no longer ‘active’ (persons alive) but ‘barricaded’. BUT 911 calls/times prove victims still ALIVE during wait. Oh, such pain!
Tell me something new.
The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the commander considered the gunman barricaded and didn’t consider it an active-shooter situation despite 911 calls from inside the classrooms. 2 of the children who’d called 911 died.
And a teacher had propped the door open when it was supposed to be locked. Oh awful!
