Tesla Inc. shares slid to their lowest close in almost 2½ years Friday after Elon Musk called for a “hardcore” review of all the electric-car maker’s expenses and an analyst warned of potentially severe fallout from a fatal crash involving Autopilot.
The carmaker’s share price finished the day at $211.03, down 7.5%, its lowest close since December 2016. The shares are now down 36% so far this year.

However, one important point the decision on anti-LIDAR is missing: Adding LIDAR would not only increase costs but complexity = more data points to be processed (dimensionality), different chip design, more energy consumption. If vision is sufficent, why LIDAR? elonmusk Tesla who is missing the point? Shooting lightbeams out of our heads or designing wheels based on human legs? As I understood it, what do we currently use to drive? Basically our eyes and we make it around quite fine. So whats happens when you give AI 360 vision? This article is so clogged with mistakes and important omission that it shouldn’t be call journalism. Just old FUD to try to take tesla stocks down. When a FSD Tesla car crashes is going to use footage of the 8 cameras to get off the hook. Period.

I'm guessing the opposite will be the case based on Musks history of innovation. This is a bit of a stretch! This isn't VHS vs Betamax. If a vehicle with a LIDAR based ADAS system crashes, will the OEM be sued for not using enough cameras?
