The band briefly wore a T-shirt based on a design by a boy who was teased at school over the design and then offered a scholarship at the university.
On Thursday, Tennessee officials offered the 4th grader a four-year scholarship beginning in the fall of 2028 if he chooses to attend Tennessee and meets admission requirements. The boy's story went viral last week after his teacher posted on Facebook that the student's peers mocked a T-shirt he designed for his school's"college colors" day.
After the post gained attention, the University of Tennessee's VolShop website created its own Tennessee shirt featuring the boy's design.

Apparently the teacher’s post on Facebook was overly exaggerated. This is another example of an out of context story from out of control media producers who were bullied as kids.

20 years ago kids clowned kids over silly things like clothes or w/e and it was kinda normal and kids just grew tougher skin, doesn’t it seem like that part of life is something going away? Seems adversities people overcame decades ago or too damaging now. Why and how

Bullying is an undesirable behavior in children and adults. Therefore, any initiative against bullying is a welcome change in social mores. To characterize it as a 'bandwagon' means the lede writer gives it the same importance as a chicken sandwich marketing battle. Do better.

Band members may have a little experience in this arena. In hs (late 80s), a math teacher/athletic director used the slur “band f-gs” in class on one occasion. I would hope it’s better now? bullythebullies (Oh, and karma got that guy)
