WonderWoman1984 is expected to hit U.S. theaters on Oct. 2, but there’s been a suspicious lack of promotion for the film. That’s a sign, perhaps, that the superhero sequel may soon be postponed again

Now, the film business remains divided over the question of whether or not “Tenet’s” ticket sales justify releasing more big-budgeted films before coronavirus abates or a vaccine becomes widely accessible.

“We’re accustomed to looking at opening weekend,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Boxoffice Pro. “We have to look at box office differently [now]. After a few weeks, we might get a better idea about the longterm.” Some analysts believe there’s no sense in forging ahead with tentpoles until the country’s two biggest moviegoing markets are back in business.

But there’s a reason that North America is a pivotal market for most movies. Studios receive more in profits from exhibitors in the U.S. than they do internationally. China, for example, only gives a quarter of ticket sales to studios, which is less than half what Hollywood companies would normally make Stateside. With “Tenet” in particular, Warner Bros. is getting more than 60% of domestic ticket sales, which is much higher than its usual payday.

The longer they wait, the fewer movie theatres might be there. 😖

Surely if Tenet opening was so fine Warner wouldn't now be considering delaying Wonder Woman 1984 to December and Disney rumoured to delay Black Widow into 2021 if this were to happen it's likely Candyman Connected and Death on the Nile will go too?

Now, streaming WonderWoman1984. Thank you very much.

Prefer VOD tbh gladly shell out $25-30 for a new release

It’s a mess.

Right now they have to be thinking video on demand charging $30 for Mulan or a couple theaters open making less money with 20 million-dollar opening weekend and having Thursday Sunday and only make it twenty million dollars doesn't look too good

As long as the films play in theaters and not VOD, I'm fine with whatever decision they make

Man up and open up.

FrancoCNac I thought they delayed it til July 2021

Just release it on VOD already

While Warner were forced into opening Tenet it would be sheer lunacy for them to open WW84 in October now, at the start of the year these two films could have taken upwards of $2bn WW now will be lucky to take $1bn between them

Just save it for when we get out of this mess.

If this gets postponed I would still watch it when it comes out. I’m a fan of DC.

Just put it out next summer

There’s no theatre’s open in my area at all. I’m dying to see it but I don’t think it will happen 😭

Dec 2020 do it

One needs to judge it as such - a movie which opened during a pandemic. Many theaters still closed and people uneasy about going. So, not bad at all. Saw Tenent last evening. Complete waste of good popcorn.
