A deeply divided Supreme Court refused to allow churches in California to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic with more worshippers than state plans permit.

WASHINGTON – A deeply divided Supreme Court refused Friday night to allow churches in California and Illinois to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic with more worshippers than state plans permit.

"Although California’s guidelines place restrictions on places of worship, those restrictions appear consistent with the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment," Roberts wrote."Similar or more severe restrictions apply to comparable secular gatherings, including lectures, concerts, movie showings, spectator sports, and theatrical performances, where large groups of people gather in close proximity for extended periods of time.

The legal battle reached the nation's highest court days before Pentecost Sunday, when churches that have been restricted to virtual or drive-by services since before Easter are eager to greet congregants.

It high time the minorities come together and fight a common goal

Unconstitutional ,very very disappointed 😔

Can’t open the churches but the pot stores and riots are free to go!

This is a complete misleading news story the supreme court refused to hear the case because the state department of health and human services had already removed any restriction on reopening again fake news.

Trump inoculated with disinfectant the most conservative SCOTUS justices, who completely forgot about separation of church & state in our Constitution. It is the state that makes decision on the size of congregation that could attend the service and safety rules during pandemic.

But you can riot in downtown LA

Legal immunity for police misconduct, under attack from left and right, may get Supreme Court reviewThe brutal death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police has re-energized a national debate over misconduct by law enforcement officials that the Supreme Court may be poised to enter. Good, immunity for the police is obviously a horrible idea that encourages reckless behavior. Lazy ass Supreme court should've done something years ago.
