The justices said Monday they will review a lower-court ruling that upheld New York’s restrictive gun permit law. The court's action follows mass shootings in recent weeks in Indiana, Georgia, Colorado and California. The court had turned down review of the issue in June, before Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.

Calling on the court to reject the appeal, the state said its law promotes public safety and crime reduction and neither bans people from carrying guns nor allows everyone to do so. The issue of carrying a gun for self-defense has been seen for several years as the next major step for gun rights at the Supreme Court, following decisions in 2008 and 2010 that established a nationwide right to keep a gun at home for self-defense.

Waste of time and money

If all New Yorkers are allowed to carry guns in public, there will be an exodus from the city and no one will ever visit New York City again.. Mark my words.

Need to expand the Supreme Court before they deliberate gun rights.

Shall. Not. Be. Infringed.

So... you need a gun for self defense... in the most overpoliced, overmilitarized country in the world?

Under no pretext... Shall not be infringed...shall not be questioned... Not sure why this is difficult

It's boring to sit at home alone, looking for someone to spend time with

So the Conservative-stacked Supreme Court could rule that one can carry a concealed firearm in New York? Hey TheDemocrats, you might want to ExpandTheCourt now ... potus VP SenSchumer SpeakerPelosi SenGillibrand RepMaloney RepAOC RitchieTorres RepMondaire

What defines when a person's need to take a defensive stand?

Why do we need guns walking down the road? What a sad life you must live to think you need to do that/

U.S. Supreme Court justices debate cheerleader's free speech caseU.S. Supreme Court justices heard arguments on Wednesday on whether public schools can punish students for what they say off campus in a case involving a former Pennsylvania cheerleader's foul-mouthed social media post that could impact the free speech rights of millions of young Americans. Free speech should apply to everyone everywhere Umm... She bad mouthed her school and was cut from the squad. How is this a First Amendment violation? Looks like natural consequences to me. She wasn’t imprisoned and her civil rights weren’t violated. Cheerleading, last time I checked, isn’t a civil right. What am I missing?
