The Supreme Court ruled there is a constitutional right to carry handguns for self-defense. Texas law allows people to carry without a license. The Court's liberals argued the decision could hamper efforts to address shootings such as the one in Uvalde.

The century-old New York law that was overturned said residents need to prove “a proper cause” to carry a handgun for self-defense in public. In a 6-3 ruling, the nation’s highest court said the New York law violated the Second Amendment. That decision will make it significantly harder for states or the federal government to impose gun restrictions, even as Congress is on the verge of finding a rare compromise on gun legislation in the aftermath of the Uvalde shooting.

In a dissenting opinion, Justice Stephen Breyer raised the need for gun regulation in the face of the dangers of firearms. He pointed to the scourge of gun violence in the country, including the shooting in Uvalde last month that killed 19 schoolchildren and two educators.

I presume that the Supreme Court allows guns, concealed and visible, into their courtroom during proceedings.

'The Court's liberals argued the decision could hamper efforts to address shootings such as the one in Uvalde.' Perhaps the court's liberals should have tried citing legal arguments, instead of emotional ones.

Also, the dissenting opinions ignored the fact that the Buffalo mass shooting occurred in a 'may carry' state, so their laws there clearly did not work to prevent a mass shooting. Just like Chicago's laws fail to slow the day-to-day shootings that equal a weekly mass shooting.

IDIOTS!

Pretty clueless of what the decision if you connect this with Uvalde. No 'conceal carry' issues were involved in that horrific shooting & the decision only directly affects 6 states with 'may carry' laws where local govt could essentially deny a license for any reason they chose.

This court case literally has no relation to what happened in Uvalde. It is about lawfully carrying a concealed sidearm. PoorJournalism

This is too stupid to be use as their argument!

Love it. Still got my LTC in Texas even though it’s not required. I wanted the additional training, plus they teach you what’s legal and not with carrying. That’s important for ALL who want to carry

The Supreme Court has descended into a political pawn and has been bought. Good thing they outlawed Juuls, are children will now face their no 1 killer, guns, with no vices

“Texas law allows people to carry without a license” Clearly Texas lawmakers don’t care about their people, like we didn’t already know that though.

The Constitution does NOT guarantee the right to use bullets! So carry your guns, but no ammo!
