High temperatures can have devastating effects on the body. What begins as fatigue or fainting can quickly lead to organ failure.
UPS does not air condition its boxy brown trucks where, on hot days, drivers say they have clocked temperatures above 150 degrees in the cargo areas. The company does not consistently provide drivers with water and the ice machines at its facilities frequently run out or break, workers said. UPS said air conditioning trucks drivers constantly turn on and off is ineffective, as is air conditioning many warehouses with large, open doors.
“They ask, ‘Are you alright?’ but see if you can keep going,’” said a warehouse worker in Dallas, who asked not to be named for fear of retaliation. “There are days when I go home, I feel like passing out.” “It’s unthinkable to me what has been happening with OSHA,” said Terri Gerstein, senior fellow at the Economic Policy Institute and director of the State and Local Enforcement Project at Harvard Law School. “They are abdicating their duty to enforce the law.”
Data obtained in early June showed more than 350 complaints concerned the Postal Service, FedEx and UPS inadequately protecting workers from coronavirus. Of those, OSHA conducted five inspections. Vinnie Perrone, president of Teamsters Local 804, left, speaks to UPS workers at a protest of working conditions at their Brooklyn facility on July 24, 2020.have broadened worker protections. Among those is California, which is the only state that has a comprehensive standard to help prevent heat illness in outdoor workers.
UPS trucks are long overdue for an update. Any delivery vehicle without AC, especially in brutal summers, can be considered a work hazard.
So maybe states should open up in-person voting. Problem solved.
Maybe they should put a/c in those trucks!
Stay safe y’all ♥️👏👏👏👏
even with extra cash to pay existing bills can USPS handle elections..just asking
Hire more people... People need Jobs to make ends meet Because Trump is cutting their unemployment...!!Do the right think.. stand up to a crazy President..
OK. Lemonade and an ice pack for the UPS guy. Got it.
I see my ups drivers twice a day Monday thru Friday in Florida and they dont even have ac in those trucks.
What does this story have to do with USPS. The USPS is under attack and this is the story you come up with. DO BETTER because we DEMAND BETTER.
A grateful consumer thanks you. This is a good reminder that if our stuff takes a little longer to be delivered, its a small enough thing compared to men and women pushing themselves every day to deliver
Well, maybe they should ask for funding for USPS so they can help
cry me a river. do your job.
Wait until the Dems add extra loads of ballots.
There are 19 million recently unemployed who would like to have your problems. Just sayin.
Maybe they can form a support group.
Instead of wasting money removing sorting machines and mailboxes, the money should have been spent inproving working conditions.
UPS overworks in drivers. Has been for years.
Once a ballot is mailed, it is no longer in anyone's custody. The primary problem with vote by mail and ballot harvesting is that there is no 'chain of custody'. It is not secure, and is prone to errors, abuse and outright fraud.
So let’s overload them by pushing unrequested mail-in ballots, then pretend we didn’t see the disaster coming and blame Trump! 🤷🏻♂️ 🇺🇸🦅⚓️
Keep your head up, you've got this! Check out
I have a get out of hell free card. Worked on the flight line at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas.
Don’t forget about the usps
I'm laughing at all the people who think the UPS is the USPS. Must be Democrats all low IQ.
If i ever order anything from ups, ill offer yall some gatoraide, water, and a snack.
I don't know how true that is. I know someone who isn't allowed to work overtime and if the mail isn't delivered it goes back to the PO for the next day.
Delivery drivers have dealt with heat for 100+ years...
i see the hypocrisy. we all have to go back to work but teachers and others feel they are better than us and use our services we provide while whining about going back to work
I saw a USPS truck with pop-out vent/wings cut in the back of a truck on sides, seems a no-brainer mod along with a ceiling vent fan. Though the dark color brown is still going to add at least 5 degree's to the internal temp. could paint the roof white though.
God bless them
