Armed men detained prominent Sudanese women's rights campaigner Amira Osman in a nighttime raid on her home in Sudan's capital Khartoum, her sister said on Sunday.

Osman's detention comes after what activists say has been a campaign of arrests of civil society and pro-democracy figures since a military takeover in October.

Some high profile political figures have been released since the Oct. 25 coup, but activists say others have remained in detention and arrests have continued. "We don't know where she is or the security agency that took her. We are worried about the nature of her arrest and her critical health condition," she said, adding that Osman had been partially paralysed in an accident some years ago.

Abortion Rights Defenders Are Calling on Legislators to Codify RoeProgressive lawmakers say the Women's Health Protection Act would protect abortion rights. All nice and good to advocate for such legislation, but if this leg could pass in the so would filibuster reform and the BBB and even M4A. The system is so rotten it is beyond repair. Something else is going to happen and it probably will be christofascism at the Fed level. Democrats have wasted 49 years. Democrats. How many times have they held the power? They’ve let us down time and again, prioritizing monied interests over the people, over women, over BIPOC. Time and again.

Advocates warn Roe v. Wade's 49th anniversary could be its lastToday marks the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court's landmark decision that legalized abortion access in the U.S. Advocates warn the ruling is 'more at risk now than ever.' Not reported by the major television networks but this time lapse of thousands of young people marching without violence for a cause. I love my country. Roe is gone, and everyone knows it. The open contempt conservative District and Circuit Courts of Appeals have for an established precedent, and SCOTUS's encouragement to them to continue to ignore it, are more than proof. It's just a question how intrusive States can be. It is sad that a small part of the population wants to take this safe right away from half the population. The same time they cry about Gov over reach in masks and vax. Kind of screws lose in the head. No sex education unless it is abstinence 🙄
