earlier this month that undergraduate students will"primarily or exclusively" be taking online classes during the fall semester and that"on-campus housing and activities will be limited."only 40% of undergraduate students would return to campus in the fall.
The ICE announcement said that students enrolled in schools that offer a combination of in-person and online classes will be permitted to continue as long as the school certifies that the program is not all online, that the student is not exclusively taking online classes, and that"the student is taking the minimum number of online classes required to make normal progress in their degree program.
F-1 and M-1 visas are given to foreign nationals who are pursuing academic or vocational studies in the United States,
The visa's are for them to be at school, if they aren't going to be present then they don't need to be in the country,
True, They Should Go Back
$40B gone..baby..gone. Better to attend Chinese University’s they are leading the way. No issues with visas...may be seeing the end of America’s higher educational dominance!
Ronnie_Rusli I don't think Trump's Administration / The Immigration and Naturalization service will do-- there are over a million students, from all over the world, come to the US every year to study. I smell the money!
Who will spend thousands of dollar fee to do online course in US university from India ?
This is evil! These students bring money to the universities and colleges which in turn provides jobs for the locals! This Administration is cruel!
As someone who’s worked in higher ed for more than a decade, this is so bad. I feared this would happen once colleges started planning only online classes and here we are. Very unfair to our international students
I wounder if the taxes collected from people on these visas equals or exceeds the ICE budget? I would put my money on exceeds.
Each University should offer one class in person for one person
Excellent. These schools are benefiting from high paying foreign students at the expense of US students
Can't they continue their online classes from countries they came from? No need to pay rent and other expenses !
Is this a ploy by the Trump Admin to force colleges and universities to open for a forced normalcy in the midst of Covid to score a cheap temporary political goal!
There is always a tweet
Do it on computer from home
But what is the sense to n this? Does want the country to put hundreds of school down? That is not a good way to help the economy!
PERFECT!!
realDonaldTrump is working very hard to lose in November.
please answer me this question, ICE: Which one is guilty, being a poor woman who cannot afford an expensive plane ticket back to her home country or unwilling to force a professor to risk his life for face-to-face teaching?
The asshole is a feature.. not a bug
Well that’s fucked up.
Students enrolled in a school 'operating entirely online' must either leave the country or transfer to a school that is offering in-person classes, ICE said.
