The treasury secretary said the national debt won't be dealt with until after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on Sunday defended the record U.S. deficit and spending under the Trump administration, saying the COVID-19 pandemic requires as much funding as a"war."

Despite the U.S. deficit now accounting for about 16 percent of the country's gross domestic product, Mnuchin said reductions in spending are simply not possible amid the ongoing health crisis.."This is like a war. In a war, you've got to spend whatever you need to spend."Despite Mnuchin's claim Sunday morning, economists were quick to point out that the U.S. deficit under the Trump administration was way up before COVID-19.

Where did the covid stimulus go? The billions unaccounted for? Most people got enough to cover food for 2 weeks 6 months ago! like to see the accounting ledgers for the money, would be telling I’m sure. Were records even kept?

OH, the spending started before the virus did. Trump is the real virus.

Truce |These young Congress representatives think that’s fine to raise US Deficit but they don’t understand this choice is exactly like the credit card company; gives a new credit increase for customers with lowest credit scores and max out on credit lines. Dangerously blinded

No one argue with that...except for those who think the pandemic is a hoax. Like most of trumps base

Thanks Steve 'fifnt' you give $10k to Kamala Harris when she ran in San Francisco, & another time for Senate. Hmmm. Quid Pro Quo. Receipts. Never know who's eat him the money trail. Isis

A 'war' in which his boss is too immature to fight it (e.g. telling people to wear a mask, and then don't wear a mask).

Is COVID-19 like a war, spending good?

Except the deficit was already ballooning before COVID. So there's that.

Everyone’s a Keynesian during a crises.

Hard to definitively know what side of the war Mnuchin, Trump, etc are on. Probably not the one with nearly 200,000 dead Americans.

Um no
