Steph Curry is NBA All-Star Game’s top vote-getter so far

For Warriors followers, Curry’s whopping vote total is one of the biggest takeaways from the league’s announcement. It’s also interesting to see Andrew Wiggins ahead of teammate Draymond Green — and fourth among Western Conference frontcourt players — and Klay Thompson, who has yet to play, sitting fourth among conference guards.

More interestingly, Curry has emerged as a serious threat to snap LeBron James’ four-year run as an All-Star Game captain when the 75th All-Star Game takes place in Cleveland Feb. 20. Since the NBA changed its All-Star Game format four years ago, the top vote-getters in each conference are named captains and they take turns drafting their respective teams. James has been a captain each year, but he’s more than 500,000 votes behind Curry in the Western Conference.

Should the current vote hold in both conferences, Curry and former teammate Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets would square off in the draft as All-Star captains. Durant is second overall in voting to Curry by 200,000 votes and leads Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokoumpo by more than 200,000 votes in the Eastern Conference.
