The death of George Floyd prompted states to move quickly to enact policing reforms, and many of the changes have had bipartisan support. By AlanSuderman.

FILE - In this Saturday, July 25, 2020, file photo, the words "I can't breathe" are flashed on a wall during a Black Lives Matter protest in Portland, Ore. State legislatures across the U.S. are pushing an array of policing reforms after the demonstrations related to the death of George Floyd last spring, from banning chokeholds to making it easier to hold officers legally accountable for their actions.

“This kind of rapid response from legislators, on this type of issue particularly, is not something I’ve ever seen previously,” Amber Widgery, a program principal on criminal justice issues at the National Conference of State Legislatures. California’s legislature is in the final month of a session repeatedly interrupted by the pandemic and lawmakers are pushing to enact nearly a dozen police-related laws. One would require law enforcement officers to immediately intercede and report what they believe to be the use of excessive force. Another would allow criminal suspects to apply for victims’ compensation if they were injured by police use of excessive force.

The protests have not moved every state toward putting new limits on police powers. If anything, protests in Missouri have only fueled backlash and pro-police sentiment, primarily among Republican elected officials. During a special session in June the Legislature passed several police reform bills, including a measure that limits the use of chokeholds and another creating a statewide police discipline database.

AlanSuderman Obama dropped the ball...

AlanSuderman Good, no one is talking about this. All the protesting and for what? No laws on the books mean cops have a license to kill

AlanSuderman Lies

judy2dog AlanSuderman Lets stop paying honage to despicable Fentanyl addicts that are viscous career criminals. We saw the body cam footage. Not just the staged for camera scene.

AlanSuderman I'm so tired of you playing this up. George Floyd said at least five times I can't breathe before he was ever on the ground. He faded out, died from an overdose.

AlanSuderman You have all watched the leaked body cam video right No wonder the democrats are still hiding it. We have all been lied to for political reasons just like the Ferguson hands up don’t shoot hoax. They want us divided we should all be disgusted at what’s being done to us.

AlanSuderman Before the president election, Please peacefully unification Korea regardless of the time of the president election. The US-Japan Security Treaty does not concern the US president election. 70 missiles have already attacked the Sea of Japan.

AlanSuderman Yet still no actual punishment against police. No wonder it has bipartisan support. 🙄 ACAB NoAntiBlackRacism

AlanSuderman mmm, home cooked american propaganda

AlanSuderman We need reform in terms of excessive force by law enforcement and internal accountability, so this is a step in the right direction. That being said, law enforcement is all that stands between a civilized society and chaos. We MUST support and encourage them.

AlanSuderman A blatant LIE! No 'police reform' has been 'enacted'. Only a DISCUSSION is taking place. The audacity you people have to lie so abhorrently just makes you even more inconceivable. 🗑

AlanSuderman Liberal states race to placate the mob. Afraid of criticism by left wing mobs. They will soon realize they need the police more than the rioters. Most voters want the rule of law enforced. Their families and property safe. Giant miscalculation by the elected left.

AlanSuderman They did not think about the consequences. Not very bright people.

AlanSuderman

AlanSuderman Another effect of the DemocratScam. Create some more racism

AlanSuderman Well, unlike this thug, I CAN breathe. Look, he brought it upon himself by committing a felony (FUNNY MONEY). I have no sympathy for him and really, those cops are heroes. The end result is that one less thug is walking the streets.

AlanSuderman make police accountable for their actions. make prosecutor accountable for their actions.

AlanSuderman Yep, it’s called open the cage doors and let the animals free!!!!

AlanSuderman The reaction was not worth. No notable policies. More suffering. More Ferguson effect. More death. More crime. Statistics ruined for a decade. He was not the marytr he was made out to be. BLM was not the organization to follow for change.

AlanSuderman I can't breathe symbolizes the mask cult rituality, as kneeling is bowing to the masonic cult !!

AlanSuderman Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, Laquan McDonald, Walter Scott, Samuel DuBose, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and Tamir Rice were all deaths under the Dem's rule. The party of the KKK, segregation and Jim Crow.

AlanSuderman What a great lie to the whole world. George Floyd was a criminal, and that has been proven a thousand times. His arrest was violent because of his record and because he opposed it. Yes, there was an undue and absurd excess. And the police must pay. But it was never a racial issue

AlanSuderman Floyd on high as shit on 3 different drugs, resisted arrest, and died of a heart attack not by police. also was a piece of shit for having a gun to preggo womans belly then pistol whipping her

AlanSuderman The cities made plenty of reforms and now have the additional violence to show for it. refundthepolice

AlanSuderman The most obvious sign that police reform does not have teeth? Bipartisan support

AlanSuderman It was a setup. Now that all the footage is been released we should roll back everything immediately including the gold casket and funeral. Garbage.

AlanSuderman This means GOP donor class is in on the op

AlanSuderman The Death Of This Man Is A Crime Against Humanity And To Think That A USA Police Men Can Do This To The One They Swore To Protect Is Demonic. For Me, USA Has Lost The Moral Right To Call Kettle Black When Its Simply Worst Than Charcoal.

AlanSuderman Police reform don’t do fentanyl & meth

AlanSuderman Floyd made the decisions that led to his death that day.

AlanSuderman George Floyd was just an excuse, to push a globalist agenda, everyone with a third grade education, knows this! the AP is no more a news organization than CNN (Fake News)

AlanSuderman George Floyd had at least 3 types of drugs in his system and was resisting arrest. This is Minnesota's problem. Not America.

AlanSuderman States needs to reform prison system too. Reform everything

AlanSuderman You All Know! Going forward

AlanSuderman Better have bipartisan support. We have a Constitution and nowhere in the document does it say some pig officer has judge, jury, and executioner powers. GOP Libertarian 2020.

AlanSuderman Rioting looting and burning down cities killing police officers killing Americans killing businesses allowed... DemocRATs
