Starbucks will pay for travel expenses for workers seeking abortions

The NY Attorney General has announced a new program that would increase funding for abortion services. The program aims to help New Yorkers and those who might travel to New York for abortions if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. Starbucks on Monday announced it will cover travel expenses for U.S. employees seeking abortions and gender-confirmation procedures but who do not have access within 100 miles of their home.

The announcement comes after the leak of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court arguing for overturning its 1973 decision in Roe v.

Kelly also wrote that “regardless of what the Supreme Court ends up deciding, we will always ensure our partners have access to quality healthcare. And when actions impact your access to healthcare, we will work on a way to make sure you feel supported.” The benefit will also be available to dependents of employees in Starbucks’ health care plan. The coffee giant has approximately 240,000 U.S. employees.

Don’t be surprised if these dystopian/authoritarian states pass legislation to make such assistance illegal or give the state the ability to obtain those records in order to prosecute workers taking advantage of these benefit.

It's time to get woken up by Starbucks coffee and not its policies!

If those employees are legally adults then ok, what special help will employees who keep their baby get? I hope paid maternity leave and childcare help.

Are there that many women getting abortions? I'm liberal but that's a whole problem on its own. Abortion should not be a form of birth control.

Why doesn’t Starbucks close stores in those states instead?
