These days, when someone sets out to make a documentary, they typically have a pretty clear idea of what they’re expecting to find. Not Brett Story, who approaches “The Hottest August” like some kind of anthropologist from the future, interviewing New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds, as if any one of them might hold [...
” But as second unit director on “The Rise of Skyalker,” Mahoney is also the first woman to direct a “Star Wars” film. And she’s also the first black woman to do so. It’s an important distinction in a time where Hollywood is more scrutinized than ever [...]“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will crush the box office this weekend with an enormous $195 million after taking in $90 million on Friday.
Pandering to fans is a mistake. So is insulting their intelligence and disrespecting them as your paying customers.

He is right , and some Star Wars fans needs to learn their life doesn’t end because They didn’t like a movie.
rianjohnson messed up the new trilogy too much in LastJedi which to date is the worst StarWars movie ever. Despite a hard effort and better than Last Jedi, StarWarsTheRiseofSkywalker as a result cannot redeem the new trilogy making it the worst trilogy ever.

Not just a mistake- its corrosive if pandering means cowering to audiences who: 1)Demand that the Asian female lead have a smaller role. 2)Need an explanation for why a female character could be so strong. 3)Need to see an abusive white guy save the girl bc 'he was good along'.
After seeing this mess of a film, he's right. Rise of Skywalker just craps the bed tenfold.
Pandering is always a mistake
