Spurs guard Blake Wesley says he feels “blessed” that he was able to avoid surgery after injuring his knee during an Oct. 30 win over the Timberwolves.SAN FRANCISCO — Spurs first-round rookie guard Blake Wesley said he’s started rehabbing after suffering a knee injury that threatens to keep him off the court until late December or possibly early January.“I’ve started jogging, lifting and getting my routine back," he added.
Wesley suffered a Grade 3 left MCL sprain in a win over Minnesota on Oct. 30 when he banged knees with Jaden McDaniels. Wesley was poised to receive increased minutes after the Spurs released Josh Primo on Oct. 28. In a win over Chicago that same day, Wesley responded with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor and four assists in 15 minutes in his regular season debut.Rookie impresses in practice
The Spurs had signed Hall to a two-way deal in August, but he was waived when they signed big man Charles Bassey to the final two-way spot.“He has got a point guard mentality, which is what he really did in the Atlantic 10 ,” Popovich said. “He was a point guard for two years there, and it’s fun to see him doing that. He’s got great size for a point guard. He’s got a really high IQ on the court and is a pleasant guy. He just needs minutes.
