The optimistic consumer outlook was mostly recorded before U.S.-China trade deliberations soured earlier this month.

Sanchez's party PSOE won April's election but without securing a majority.Pedro Sanchez's attempts to form a stable government in Spain took a blow this week.

The acting prime minister and the country' Socialist party leader was hoping to appoint Miquel Iceta, the socialists' leader in Catalonia, to Spain's senate. But in a surprising move, Catalan separatists voted against it on Thursday. Iceta's selection was supposed to pave the way for PSOE, the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, to form a government with a Catalan separatist party.

However, the ongoing trial of 12 Catalan separatist leaders, for their role in the failed independence bid back in 2017, along with disputes among separatist parties resulted in pro-independence parties rejecting the appointment. It's likely that Sanchez will have until July to form a coalition government before Parliament votes on who will become prime minister.

U.S. pursues Californian wanted in bizarre takeover of North Korean Embassy in SpainTo Adrian Hong’s supporters, his takeover of the North Korean Embassy was an extension of a lifetime’s work on behalf of oppressed North Koreans, a worthy cause taken perhaps too far. But the U.S. government isn’t seeing it that way. Hong and his accomplices took hostages, smashed photographs of North Korea's late dictators and stole electronics and thumb drives, later escaping by masquerading as diplomats and driving away from the embassy in its own cars, flying North Korean flags. BREAKING: Situation Worsens In Venezuela, Bolivia, U.S., Japan, Mexico, Iraq, SpainWASHINGTON—Confirming recent reports of conditions approaching crisis levels, sources across the globe revealed Thursday that the situation continues to worsen in Venezuela, Bolivia, the United States, Japan, Mexico, Iraq, and Spain, in addition to South Sudan, India, Gabon, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia. “What we’re seeing is a sustained trend of things continuing to unravel in Niger, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Tanzania, East Timor, Jamaica, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Palestine, and the United Kingdom,” said sources, stressing that the nightmare scenario faced by the people of Nigeria, Algeria, Kuwait, Australia, Turkmenistan, Canada, and South Korea showed no signs of abating in the foreseeable future, and if anything, would continue spinning out of control for the foreseeable future. “Sadly, earlier reports of the situation improving in Ukraine, France, Chad, Albania, Micronesia, South Africa, and Kosovo were premature.
