When Harry Styles portrayed a social media manager for Sara Lee Bread during his appearance on Saturday Night Live, he sent the real-life Sara Lee team into a tailspin. In the sketch, Styles is called out for posting kinky NSFW captions to the company account, fans of the show were inspired to hop on Instagram and flood Sara Lee Bread's IRL account with similar messages.
"We didn't know about or participate in the creation of the skit so as you can imagine, waking up to all those comments threw us for a bit of a loop," Sara Lee Bread responded in a statement to the Advocate."We didn't delete any comments but did temporarily hide them until we could read through and understand what happened. All comments are now visible and we will be monitoring for any that violate Instagram standards.
Of course, as the brand hid comments, it appeared to horny bread lovers everywhere as though comments were being deleted. Prior to Sara Lee Bread's statement, SNL's Bowen Yang hopped on Twitter to write,"Sara Lee disabling and deleting IG comments wow they really could have been THE bread for f*gs." While the hilarious jokes of the sketch may not"align with Sara Lee Bread's brand," there's one thing Styles said that everyone can agree on:"People love bread content." They do!
