An age-based priority system could exacerbate the difficulty in getting underserved communities vaccinated, experts say.

"There's no magic bullet,” said Claire Hannan, executive director of the Association of Immunization Managers, referring to the different priority lists., the state on Monday will be the first to start vaccinating everyone age 55 to 64 and up. Later this spring, the state plans to vaccine younger adults. The only exception will be educators and child care providers, who also can also get vaccinated starting Monday.

A simpler age-based system could speed vaccination efforts that some say have been complicated in states withwith numerous tiers based on job and health status, Adalja said. “There is a clear argument to make it as simple and seamless as possible,” he added. said vaccines should be in large-enough supply in a few months so there won’t be a need to prioritize by age.“Age is not a good metric for disease severity nor disease progression,” the city’s health department said in a statement when asked why it plans to eventually give people ages 18 to 64 equal access to the vaccine.

Distributing by age without targeting the most affected populations also gives preference to white residents, she said, because they outnumber racial and ethnic minority groups in many states.Michelle Cantu, who oversees infectious disease and immunization programs at the National Association of County and City Health Officials, said it’s important for jurisdictions to use data to determine who and how they immunize.

Everyone's making it more complicated than it needs to be. You want to save lives? Prioritize the elderly, they seem to be the most at risk.

Teachers you idiots! Open schools!

Vaccinate the most vulnerable first, then essential workers, then the rest.

Hey GovLarryHogan let’s try this

Here in Colorado Springs the folks 60+ are just now fixing to be able to get their vaccinations. And I don't understand why they were the last ones in line because I thought those folks 60+ were at a higher risk of dying from this coronavirus.

Age is the death sentence w/Covid-19. Think kids do not need to be quarantined? What if kids are infertile after having Covid-19? DES, Thalidomide, MittRomney, do not rush where you do not know. Ear masks were rare before 2020. It takes 8 lbs of pressure to tear ears off head.

My mother always said that life’s not fair; get over it. Just get those vaccines in arms!

At least it’s better than Florida who based it on how much you donate to desantis.

It’s unethical-highriskct ppl were told Jan, then March, now GovNedLamont CTDPH pushed to MAY-JoshGeballe only cares about speed to keep ct a top vaccinating state & get kudos from Feds/media while ignoring VaccineEquity by DE-prioritizing the MOST vulnerable-lawsuit filed!
