Solange's creative studio Saint Heron recently launched a free community library that aims to increase access to rare and out-of-print works by Black and brown authors.

The thing about rare books is that they're, well, rare -- which means too many hidden gems are well out of reach for the everyday literary enthusiast.

Solange is trying to change that. The initiative launched this Monday, and features a curated collection of 50 books that readers in the US can borrow for up to 45 days. The collection spans fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, visual arts and more, and is directed at students, artists, designers, musicians and literary aficionados.

Rep. Cori Bush says Rahm Emanuel confirmation hearing shows 'disregard for Black lives'Bush tweeted that the hearing shows 'how much the Senate values Black lives.' She is the woman screaming defund the police while also wanting armed security because of being a senator. I disagree with Mayors butting in and firing cops right away. They also represent the Taxpayers, putting the City in jeopardy of enormous awards. Ya ok

Colin Powell’s affirmative action stance also defined him as a Black RepublicanColin Powell’s career in the military and public service involved leaping over hurdles as a Black man in America. There’s now such thing of a post racist society in a civilization that invented the construct of race as part of a caste system based on the color of one skin. What about the Iraq war? I still don't get why we're ignoring how horrible he was during Bush Jr's administration. Is it because the people writing these can't remember 2001-2009, or what?
