I can attest, I STILL struggle with this as an adult. It becomes even more difficult and straining with age.

I get that. My daughter’s 16 1/2. Her room’s usually messy, but tends to look like a federal disaster area when my 8 1/2, 6 (soon-to-be 7) and 4-year-old nieces come to visit. My youngest niece likes to play with my daughter’s baby dolls that happen to be in her room.
