Self-serve bar closes after less than a year in Spring Branch

, the self-serve tap bar and restaurant that opened in Spring Branch in July 2021, closed Sunday, June 19, citing disappointing sales., opened at 8155 Long Point during the pandemic, the owners stated in a press release that low foot traffic at Spring Branch Village was a chief factor in its closing. “We haven’t come close to enough sales volume to sustain the business,” stated STM Hospitality.

Shoot the Moon’s partners, industry veterans, included Kevin Floyd , culinary director Dax McAnear , and development director Jonas Herd of Collaborative Projects. The restaurant and bar was known for its self-pour tap system that allowed guests to serve themselves cider, beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits.

Shoot the Moon, 8155 Long Point, is billed as Houston's first self-service bar where guests can serve themselves cider, beer, wine, cocktails and spirits from an automated tap wall.Shoot the Moon was located in the same Braun Enterprises shopping center that includes other food and beverage tenants including Feges BBQ, Slowpokes coffee bar, and Tacos del Julio. Blind Goat from chef Christine Ha, Hando sushi bar, and Jinya Ramen Bar have announced they will open at Spring Branch Village.

On Monday Floyd took to social media to offer his thanks to his partners and to the bar’s customers and investors. And the staff: “Everyone of you stayed with us to the end,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you for all your time and energy.”
