Elderly people in nursing homes and assisted living facilities around the country haven't been able to hug a loved one in many months because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, many are facing their first Thanksgiving and possibly Christmas without them.

"I'm just waiting," Grace Barnum, 76, a resident at Beechwood Long Term Care in New London, Connecticut, said. Fighting back tears, she added:"To be able to hug again." Nursing homes and other facilities for the elderly were hit hard early on in the pandemic because the virus is so deadly among that population.

So sad!

The messages of the Lord are many, especially for those who possess most of the sources of power, and that God loves all his creatures.

This is elder abuse, not healthcare. Only a degenerate ppl would imagine this is preferable for most elders than the 'risks' associated with family interaction.

Where is the concern for quality of life? My mother turned 97 this summer. The harsh reality is that she is going to die one of these days. I know that she would rather spend some time with her children than live an extra year (month, week, day) in solitude.

Talking through a window wasn’t even a thought 16 months ago but, that’s where we find ourselves and we just got to be grateful for that. Wife’s mother and my dad both with dementia but, a least they have their health.
