Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of Alejandro Amenabar’s timely self-isolation tale about a war widow who hides her children away in an isolated mansion due to a rare disease characterized by photosensitivity. The arrival of three mysterious servants unlocks the house’s terrifying secrets. Kidman was Golden Globe and BAFTA-nominated for her turn and writer-director Amenabar won Goyas for Best Director and Screenplay.
The plan is to reinvent and modernize the story and we understand the project is already attracting significant interest from A-list talent and studio backers. The film will be produced by Sentient’s Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin, as well as Aliwen Entertainment’s Lucas Akoskin. Veteran Spanish producer Cerezo will executive produce alongside FilmSharks’ Guido Rud and Miller Way’s Michael and Jeeny Miller.

I'm usually not vocal about horror remakes but this seems like a waste of everyone's time and money. The original is 20 years old, that doesn't automatically mean it needs a remake. It was perfect as is. Reimagine all you want, you can't pull off that ending today anymore.
There are remakes and sequels to eveything. There is no originality anymore. I watch a lot of films and T.V shows from other countries. foreign flims are so much better. Guess what? America remakes those too. I don't pay for a movie I already paid for whateva years ago.
Why mess with a classic! Unnecessary.
Another reason to hate Hollywood. They won't stop with the remakes. I am so done with Hollywood. This is why I never watch movies anymore.
Why remake a perfectly good film that not old enough to be remade anyway?
Make it modern takes out some of the elements that make this movie good, it’s a period piece for a reason. 🙄🤬

The beauty of that movie was the complete shock of the end, it was perfect, it was genius and when you remake it, it will not have the same effect.
Why? It's not that old of a film.
Why remake it, the original is good and not every movie needs a modern update.
