Saudi Arabia’s U.N. envoy is disputing a CIA assessment that the Saudi crown prince approved an operation to kill or capture dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The now-declassified document was released by the Biden administration last week.

UNITED NATIONS — Saudi Arabia’s U.N. ambassador on Monday disputed the U.S. intelligence report which concluded that the Saudi crown prince approved an operation to kill or capture dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi, saying in a tweet: “Let us all move forward to tackle the serious business of world issues!!”

The document released last Friday echoed what has long been known about the killing: a 15-member Saudi team, including seven members of the prince’s elite personal protective team, arrived in Istanbul, Turkey and were at the Saudi consulate where Khashoggi, a U.S.-based journalist, had gone to the Saudi consulate to pick up documents needed for his wedding.

In his tweets, ambassador Al-Mouallimi rebutted the CIA finding that the 35-year-old crown prince “must’ve known because he controls the intelligence system.”

KSAconsulateNY No one really cares if you dispute this, but go ahead - knock yourselves out.

cryborg So they’re going to admit it? Let’s be smarter than our adversaries.

And I'm sure everyone will give the Saudi denial all the consideration it is due.

they 'agreed' on this matter a long time ago! The Saudis are the main friends of the United States in the Middle East (after Israel, of course) and the main buyers of American military trash, so don't expect sanctions or something like that!

Who sent him to say that? the Prince again☹

Really should bring evidence not speculations based on hatred of his highness. Before 10 years Democratic Party destroy Arab nation with their claims (freedom and civil rights) but no freedom nor civil rights in countries where they bring for them death and famine.

IMMORAL Canada creating hindrance to kids in meeting their father since last 12 years. Canada sides with abductors. 2 x infant abducted from Pakistan in Dec 2009.Flown Canada.Till today kids are Not allowed to phone/Skype father even once. Canada denying visit rights to father.

Since when is “beyond a reasonable doubt” part of Saudi law? Or public trials?

No one acts without the Prince's approval; until they do. Conjecture is not proof. Khashoggi was a reporter who knew he was not in good standing yet he failed to do due diligence to ensure his summons was legitimate, which proved to be a fatal error.

Saudi Arabia’s U.N. envoy invokes highly implausible plausible deniability.

Of course he is. Not by providing a shred of exculpatory evidence mind you, but he is. Good reporting. 🙄

They could help themselves a little by disclosing where the murderers left Khashoggi's remains

Well of course they're disputing it, their boss will send a hit squad with a bonesaw after them if they confirm it. They have no credibility because they work for a murderer.

TimInHonolulu Who cares.

Of course he is.

This is normal, because the report did not bring any facts or evidence, but rather was an attempt to discredit the Crown Prince

It’s hard to dispute. The video evidence is enough, but the alleged dismemberment is enough to not give the crown prince a pass.

He’s completely right. The conclusions in the report are ridiculous and illogical.
