“Raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour is not incidental to the federal budget and is permissible under the rules of reconciliation,” Sanders said in a statement. “The CBO has found that the $15 minimum wage has a much greater impact on the federal budget than opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling and repealing the individual mandate penalties — two provisions that the parliamentarian advised did not violate the Byrd Rule when Republicans controlled the Senate.
Under the Byrd rule, the Senate can't include "extraneous matter" via the reconciliation process. The Byrd rule considers provisions that don't change revenues or outlays to be “extraneous,” or makes changes to revenues or outlays that are "merely incidental." Biden has not been as confident as the Vermont Independent about the prospects of minimum wage working via reconciliation, though he supports a $15 minimum wage.
Instead of the government expecting employers to take care of poverty perhaps the government should just waive ALL taxes for anyone making less than 15.00 per hour? Is the government willing to do what they’re asking employers to do?!?

I support additional money/heroes pay to workers during Covid—in the Covid relief plan, deal w/it the same way you do enhanced unemployment. If we have the votes to raise min wage to $15 by reconciliation, do it outside the Covid relief funds.

You really like Burn's 30,000/yr min wage. $15/hr for jobs requiring no skill, no education & no experience is rediculous. Some jobs are not careers. Teens, seniors & the barely employable may be terminated. Valued employees will want a raise above marginal counterparts.

By the time set for the full $15.00 wage increase to take effect the American people will need another $10.00 added to it due to inflation!

A $15 min wage, that only makes sense in high cost areas, being imposed on low cost, smaller towns is such a foolish policy. Something tied to average median wage in an area would be more reasonable but doesn’t look as good on a sign.

Great! Than all other wages will be raised too. Also, value meals at fast food will be over $10. Raising the minimum wage will only create inflation. Rent, gas, food, utilities all will go up.
