Salvage efforts to recover Conception boat off Santa Cruz Island have been suspended

have been suspended because of weather and safety concerns, officials said Saturday.

The owner of the boat contracted Global Diving and Salvage to conduct the operation, which is being overseen by the U.S. Coast Guard. The Conception was anchored off Santa Cruz Island on Labor Day when the fire broke out. Thirty-nine people were on board for a three-day scuba diving trip.

Maybe they should install a lower deck escape hatch to the water when you are sleeping more than 3 people in a boat.
