Turkey begins operation to rescue some 15 crew members on lifeboats after a Russian-flagged cargo ship sank off Black Sea

A Russian-flagged dry cargo ship named "Arvin" has sunk off Turkey's Bartin province in the Black Sea, a Turkish official said, adding a mission to rescue some 15 crew has begun.

"A Russian-flagged dry cargo ship sank off the coast of Inkumu," Bartin Governor Sinan Guner said on Sunday. Guner said the weather conditions in the Black Sea are bad, adding the crew of approximately 15 people "is trapped in three lifeboats." "We also asked for help from civilian ships. There is currently no news of a dead or the sinking of the lifeboats," he said.

"The weather conditions are bad, rescue teams are also having difficulty in leaving, but we will take it out, whether it is a large ship or a private ship."
