After a Twitter user made a jab about Russell Crowe's ' Master and Commander' film, the actor fired back: 'That’s the problem with kids these days'

Twitter users thinking they might get a joke off at Russell Crowe's expense might want to think twice before they post a quip.

Earlier in the month, a Twitter user made a joke to some, a rude comment to others, about the 2003's war-adventure epic"Lots of folk complaining about lack of sleep during the Pandemic. May I recommend Master And Commander starring the usually captivating, attention-grabbing Russell Crowe. I've never made it past the ten-minute mark. You're welcome. And thanks Russell," the Twitter use wrote.

Crowe finally saw it and responded Saturday night. He clearly did not find the comment about the Oscar-nominated film cute. "That’s the problem with kids these days. No focus. Peter Weir's film is brilliant. An exacting, detail-oriented, epic tale of fidelity to Empire & service, regardless of the cost. Incredible cinematography by Russell Boyd & a majestic soundtrack. Definitely an adults movie," he wrote.

In the film, which was nominated for 10 Oscars, Crowe plays Captain Jack Aubrey of the H.M.S. Surprise. Set in 1805, Aubrey and crew are tasked with hunting down and capturing a powerful French vessel.Peter Weirs film is brilliant. An exacting, detail oriented, epic tale of fidelity to Empire & service, regardless of the cost.

The movie is a masterpiece

Just rewatched the film last night on Blu-ray. Russell is 100% correct. What a beautiful film. Totally engrossing Masterandcommander

Omg 🙄 ....Some people need to understand we are lucky enough to enjoy russellcrowe 's talents!!!

jurylady5 Master and Commander is an exquisite film! Seen it at least three times and plan on watching it at least that many times again. The only explanation for haters has to be that some people are programmed to only watch mindless drivel I guess.

Mr. Crowe clearly has a great sence of humor! 🤣

Quite frankly this was a fantastic movie and so very well cast would have loved to have seen another one ❤️

M&C has long been in my list of top ten films. A great film of service and duty lost on a snarky generation.

Good for Russell. I love this film. I loved it even more after rewatching it a few years ago. Weir at his story telling best, beautifully filmed.

I actually saw this movid for the first time about a month ago, I really enjoyed it.

Wow... slow news days huh?

Apparently, russellcrowe is a bit touchy these days ... I don't follow him, but last week, I was blocked for making a comment on his bottled water choice. It was meant to be helpful, not critical.

“Makin’ movies, makin’ music. Fightin’ ‘round the world.”

A masterpiece.

Watched it in English (not dubbed) on the Champs Elysees in Paris when it came out. I was the only one in the theater to laugh at the 'lesser of two weevils' joke.

Long and boring. Peter Weir´s worst film.

It’s a terrific film with fine performances; I can’t believe R Crowe was so tender to bite back; if he was real, I’m not sure Aubrey would have bothered.

It’s a great film.

Brilliant 32 hour film

It's actually a good movie. Russell Crowe hit a sweet spot in his career there, before fat and before trying to sing, where he made a string of really solid movies. Including many people forget about. Cinderella Man is another that gets lost often.

Masterpiece.

“Kids these days” = 🙄 “Master & Commander” = 👍🏻👍🏻

It was the right tweet back.

I really enjoyed it 1st time round, and have watched it again on DVD

I thought it was an excellent film actually.

This is a masterpiece. When cares what some schmuck says on tw—wait a minute... I’M a Twitter schmuck...

Best response:

Great reply by Crowe. I thought it was a very good film.

In all fairness, as someone who loves PeterWeir's work, I found this film alongside Witness and TheWayBack to be among his lesser films.

If the Twitter user wanted to make a point they should have chosen 'Virtuosity' as a better example.

JurassicJP82 isn’t this one of your favourite movies?

'Russel Crowe reportedly vying for Paul Lynde role in Bye Bye Birdie reboot'

It's an incredible film.
