The Rise of the Machines is nigh. A robot vacuum cleaner made a jailbreak and escaped from a British hotel the other day.
Evidently fed up with its life of forced servitude, the vacuum broke out of the hotel unbeknownst to staff and was later discovered under some shrubbery.how the assistant manager of the Travelodge Cambridge Orchard Park in Cambridge made a plea on social media for anyone, everyone to help look for the mechanical escapee. The robot vacuum—which had just been purchased—had supposedly been tasked with cleaning by the entrance, then turned around and made a “run for its life.
“It was 15 minutes before I noticed and by that time it could have made it anywhere,” reads the assistant manager’s post.how the assistant manager was so desperate to get the vacuum back, he offered up the promise of free booze for anyone who managed to find and bring his “little buddy” safely back home where he belonged.
He also noted that this wasn’t a prime opportunity for someone to snag a free, free-moving cleaning device, either, as it has a unique design that makes it incompatible to most battery chargers. Alas, the little vacuum’s taste of freedom was a mere sampling, as it was found under a hedge not too far away from the hotel only a day later.
