Dino DeCario is struggling to find people to work at his two restaurants, now he’s being forced to limit the eatery’s hours.Food service workers are putting renewed pressure on their employers for better working conditions and wages.
“It’s stressful working for a billion-dollar company when they’re not caring for the workers,” said Ieshia Townsend, a McDonald’s employee in Chicago, Illinois. She has worked at the McDonald’s location since 2015. “Even during COVID-19, we had to literally go on strike just for masks, just for gloves, just for supplies and protection to protect the workers, which should have been set in place.”
Signs have been taped to the doors, drive-thru speakers and facades of fast-food and fast-casual restaurants with descriptions of long workdays, no lunch breaks and poor pay to accommodate for the risk of the ongoingEmployees across the country are searching for ways to make their workplaces more safe.
Edward Dialecio, who has worked at a New York City Chipotle for over a year, is one of many workers fighting for a union. He has been organizing with 32BJ SEIU. “It’s a constant fight to create the conditions that we want and things have been changing for the better the more pressure we put on,” Dialecio said.on social media. The diner near me is jumping on the 'please be patient with our staff, no one wants to work' bandwagon. I know this town and the people that dine there. It's not that employees don't want to work, it's not about pay. Employees are just sick and tired of the patron's bullshit.

Both our families businesses are struggling to find reliable workers. Young kids w/o experience expect to make $17. hr with little effort. Today 3 interviews & all 3 just wanted proof for unemployment. They expect our taxes to supply them with a check as they cheat the system.
Geez, I don't know, maybe pay a living wage, treat employees like human beings and have safe working conditions. If people get more money on unemployment than working full time, the problem is how much businesses pay.
Must be a coincidence that companies that pay well and treat their employees decently are not having labor shortages. 🤔
The unemployed who have to return to less than living wages, in Red states of course, will have to be reminded of what their Governors did not do for them. Who will take care of the kids with school still out?

I worked for a hospital in Texas and the largest ambulance company in the US (now) AMR came in and took over and cut people’s wages like they didn’t exist.
