Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said he's open to supporting a federal ban on AR-15 rifles, saying his position on the issue has changed.

"At that point it's like, 'OK, this is getting out of hand,'" Kinzinger told Bash."The problem is everyone is scared to inaction. They're frightened of the loudest voices. And 90% of Americans are begging that we do something."

Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas vocalized his opposition to certain gun overhaul proposals being floated, including background checks, red flag law, and changes to age restrictions, during a separate appearance on"State of the Union." Instead, he advocated stronger security measures in schools."I think what needs to change is the things that would have the most immediate and succinct effect, and tangible effect on these things.

Pressed by Bash on whether greater school security and gun reform are mutually exclusive to him, Crenshaw said that gun control measures"probably wouldn't have the outcome that you're looking for" and would"infringe on the rights of millions and millions of gun owners," whereas additional security would be"fairly easy to afford."

However, Crenshaw acknowledged earlier in the interview that law enforcement officials on the scene in Uvalde did not follow protocol and aid students. "Now, I know better than most not to necessarily judge the person who's walking through the breach, and is in that moment, in the arena. But it does seem clear that protocols were not followed," he said.

These weapons represent PARITY with potential enemies. Nothing else matters.

Good for you, Adam.

Whatta shocker

uh, good what about the massacre at Sandy Hook didn’t convince you?

Without this guy, the Republican Party is lost. He's the only glimmer of soul they have left.

No

Vote him out

Great!

Columbine parents are like it took this long?

He won't be a congressman long

This guy can’t get out of office soon enough.

He's gonna run for POTUS in 2028. Some disaffected Dems will vote for him and MAGA will have declined under the weight of it's own delusional beliefs.

God has spoken. January can't come fast enough. Get him gone.

Many thanks to AdamKinzinger for speaking up.

lil late to come outta the closet now. he knows where this is going.

Said a Man Running for Nothing. If I give you Dan Crenshaw-Mellon's phone number, will you call him up and change his mind? That would DO something Talk is Cheap CC

That’s not a republican.

How about you take control of bad people in the first place then try to take civil rights away. Smh.

The term 'Illinois Republican' is just like saying 'Jewish Nazi'

Adam is finding his way, policy wise into my heart

When they were banned the last time around the gun murder rate and murders of police officers were both reduced. Smart call.

Lmao peer pressure

Nothing worse than an Illinois republican.

He is apparently a human.

He’s just burying himself further from ever seeing another political career.

Thanks

constitution provides no language to support civilize use of AR-15s or military weapons

How does this version of gun control relate to weapons already sold?

Not much of a Constitution or oath of office kind of guy…

Adam Kinzinger: I'm Open to an Assault Weapons Ban NowRepresentative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Sunday on CNN's 'State of the Union' that he is now open to some sort of assault weapon ban following the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. | Clips Then they better add knives, subway trains, fists, bats, bricks, rocks etc to that list of ‘assault weapons’. A person can assault another person with pretty much anything. Ok so you ban weapons - exactly what’s the plan to make criminals give up theirs good... ban cannons and rockets and flame throwers and tanks and fighter jets and the like... because AR15's are NOT ASSAULT WEAPONS PERIOD!!!!!
