Rep. Nadler Taken to Hospital in New York

Photo: Ting Shen/Zuma Press By Siobhan Hughes Updated May 24, 2019 2:19 p.m. ET House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler was taken to the hospital for a medical exam after feeling unwell during a public meeting in New York.

Mr. Nadler “seems to have been dehydrated and it was very warm in the room,” a spokesman said. “He is responsive and receiving a checkup." “Appreciate everyone’s concern,” Mr. Nadler wrote on Twitter. “Was very warm in the room this morning, was obviously dehydrated and felt a bit ill. Glad to receive fluids and am feeling much better. Thank you for your thoughts.”

Mr. Nadler has lately been at the center of American political life because his committee would lead an impeachment inquiry should the Democratic-led House decide to initiate proceedings. A special counsel’s report released last month didn’t establish that President Trump’s campaign conspired with Moscow, but it detailed numerous instances in which Mr. Trump tried to impede the probe.

Mr. Nadler, a popular figure in his New York district, underwent stomach-reduction surgery in August 2002 to cope with obesity and the related health problems that he and his supporters worried could cut short his political career.
