Representative Jim Hagedorn of Minnesota announced on Wednesday that his kidney cancer has returned after 14 weeks in remission.. In it, he said he was surprised to learn the cancer had returned. He added,"But, as ever cancer survivor knows, you fight the disease each and every day. Even the best of recoveries present unexpected challenges like I'm facing."

Representative Jim Hagedorn on Wednesday announced that his cancer has returned after 14 weeks in remission.Hagedorn was first diagnosed with the disease 29 months ago yet maintained his full schedule while undergoing treatment. He vowed to keep much the same in the wake of his recent news. "Be assured, I will continue to fight for America and serve the people of Minnesota's First Congressional District with the highest level of energy and enthusiasm," he wrote.

He added that he and his doctors are"very encouraged" of recent medicine available and treatments available to fight the disease. Hagedorn concluded his announcement by advocating for annual checkups and screenings for cancer, noting that early detection is crucial. He asked that anyone who missed their annual medical exams to"please make an appointment today. It could save your life."
