Citing"extremely poor judgement," acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly on Thursday foolishly removed the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, Capt. Brett Crozier, from his post. On Monday, Crozier sent an unclassified email to Navy officials, copying some 20 to 30 people, that detailed the actions he believed were necessary to stem the spread of coronavirus aboard his ship. More than 100 sailors aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier have become ill, and Navy officials are desperately trying to remove most of the rest of the crew to hotels ashore in Guam, where the ship is now docked.
johnfkirby63 Opinion Back In my day, the commanders orders were: 'I don't want to receive any messages from the front coming to me from the rear.' Which was shorthand for: '...or your next assignment will be Thule, Greenland' Crozier

johnfkirby63 Opinion Reminds me of a situation the ships namesake found himself in. A camp in Montauk, NY became home for Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders and more than 20,000 other soldiers of the Army's Fifth Corps, quarantined due to malaria after fighting the Spanish in Cuba.
johnfkirby63 Opinion That's not a good solja
johnfkirby63 Opinion Unfortunate as it may be: We Military Members 'Choose' to be Sworn In & Pledged, to a set of Rules that direct Our Actions in these situations! 1st being: Follow The Chain of Command! Not, devaulge the information to the masses as well? All Rules to Protect Our Country!

johnfkirby63 Opinion Different rules in the military. No weak ass political correctness. Snitches wind up in ditches.
johnfkirby63 Opinion How can you get punished for trying to save the lives of your crew ? Something very wrong is happening.
johnfkirby63 Opinion He knows lose lips sinks ships. I understand his concern for the crew, a good skipper. But telling the boogereaters you are dead in the water is putting the ship and entire crew in danger. He’ll be lucky if relieved of command is all he gets.
