Oklahoma became the first state to expand Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act since the onset of the pandemic.

The coronavirus relief program extended through Aug. 8, federal investigators review facts surrounding the death of Elijah McClain, and $1B NYPD budget cut approved. In just under two weeks, the state of Oklahoma took part in two pandemic-related milestones, the first of which was hosting President Donald Trump's campaign relaunch in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

President Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally at the BOK Center, Saturday, June 20, 2020, in Tulsa, Okla.Although the initiative began before COVID-19 spread across the country, Tuesday's decision brought a new level of significance to the Sooner State given its steady increase of reported coronavirus cases over the last several months. As of Wednesday, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported more than 14,000 cases across the state.

In a statement issued to ABC News Wednesday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said the passage of State Question 802 tasked state legislators with"the difficult job of deciding where we will find an estimated $200 million in funding to support this constitutional mandate." Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt gestures as he speaks during a news conference, June 30, 2020, in Oklahoma City.England pushed back on the governor's assessment, saying that while she's"certain there will be a robust conversation" regarding the implementation of the amendment, the change will have to happen.

Missouri is currently one of the states that has yet to expand coverage, but the potential for change could be on the horizon following Gov. Mike Parson's announcement earlier this year that Missourians would vote on the Medicaid expansion question as a part of the state's August 4 primary election.

maggieNYT Well, well

maggieNYT State constitution

maggieNYT This act of Trump’s and the Republican’s to get rid of Obama care needs more conversation, observation and investigation...especially now with Covid-19? If existing conditions are taken away than anyone suffering from Covid will not be covered=Slow motion Genocide(Blacks & Poor)!

maggieNYT Good

maggieNYT This happens while Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to repeal the Affoordable Care Act altogether. During a pandemic. So that hundreds of thousands of citizens would have their medical coverage revoked. During a pandemic! Really strange timing.

We have that on the ballot in Missouri, but our Republican legislature has a bad habit of ignoring the vote of the people of they don't like the result.

The humane thing 2 do. Trump, however, wants SCOTUS 2 declare ACA unconstitutional, which would leave many mils wo healthcare during this pandemic. Y would a president do this to those who have no other alternative? Trump’s actions shows who he really is, not fit to be president

maggieNYT Wait? Does that mean federally subsidized medical marijuana? There's gonna be a party in Turner Falls this year!!!

They’re normally such backwards asses? Oh! They had the rally in Tulsa. Makes sense now.

Lol of course. Hypocritical voters

Awful. Voters deserve to go without health insurance.

Oklahoma becomes latest red state to approve Obamacare's Medicaid expansion at the ballot boxOklahoma follows Utah, Nebraska, Idaho and Maine as states to approve the Obamacare health insurance expansion for low-income residents. Conservatives love Obamacare. Unless it doesn’t benefit them. Who's paying for that? This time they had enough common sense to not vote against their own interests like they've done in the past.
