After nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for 'worst actress,' the Razzie Awards have apologized and implemented an age limit.

In a statement, Razzies founder John Wilson apologized and confirmed Armstrong’s name has been removed from the ballot. He also said that going forward under-18s would not be eligible to be nominated for the awards.

Among those criticizing the decision to nominate Armstrong was former child actor Devon Sawa, who reportedly tweeted: “The Razzies are run by soulless people. Nominating a 12-year-old? F**k them. That child could grow to be amazing if you haven’t gotten in their head.” The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong. Why put a kid at risk of increased bullying or worse? Be better. In a statement, Wilson called the criticism “valid” and said Armstrong’s name had been removed from the ballot. He added: “We also believe a public apology is owed Ms. Armstrong, and wish to say we regret any hurt she experienced as a result of our choices.

If an actor does a job that is considered weak can that not just limit earning power and future job prospects like most other jobs? As a movie fan any performance is about a lot more than just the actor.

No more Razzies, period.

She wasn't even BAD. The movie was.

When was the last time the Razzies were relevant at all?

these nominations are a joke, holy sh.. everybody's so delicate nowadays

Didn’t you publish a story on the Razzies? What the hell is the difference?

Honestly she wasn't even bad. The entire cast of Firestarter did the best they could with the weak script that was given to them.

Yes over 18. When they are really young and inexperienced, they don't deserve a Razzie nom. I blame directors for poor performances. Cameron casted Edward Furlong and realized quickly he needed some lessons. I don't blame Jake, I blamed George

It feels good that child actors will no longer have to worry about receiving a mean award, and can focus on being exploited and/or abused by the Hollywood machine

We all know what movie is to blame 😂😂😂

Man they're getting way too soft.

As if every actor isn't as emotionally fragile as a 12-year-old anyway... 🙄

It's too late to apologize when you already put this out there and she saw it.

It’s probably about metal health. Can you imagine a young actor taking his/her life after being told they gave one of the worst performances of the year based on Razzie standards?

The Razzies are lame. They’ve nominated so many great performances and films over the years, at the end of the day it’s a joke award show without a punchline. I hope I get a Razzie one day, I would be in good company.

instead of apologizing just cease to exist

Have they ever nominated someone under 18 before?

it should never happened

Should never have happened.

Maybe the the Razzies could take it one step further and simply go away

Y’all need to stop giving these lame ass things attention.

They got sloppy here 💀

Don’t get into the business if you can’t play the game

Why apologize that shit funny

They do this every year. Last year, they had to apologize for the Bruce Willis category. Just end Razzies and move on.

bwaha sorry but I kinda love how mean that is. Very Roald dahl. maybe cause I find most child actors & singers annoying. MJ was the only great child singer, period.

Why do you still feel compelled to cover the Razzies? Why give them any attention in the first place? Complete waste of everyone’s time.
