“The Australian Open is much more important than any player,” Rafael Nadal says.

“I won’t lie: It has been pretty much on every news outlet the last couple of weeks. It has received a lot of attention. A lot of people are obviously talking about it,” said Stefanos Tsitsipas, a 23-year-old from Greece who is seeded No. 4 at Melbourne Park and was the runner-up to Djokovic at last year’s French Open. “That’s why I’m here to talk about tennis. ... Not enough tennis has been talked about in the last couple of weeks, which is a shame.

Players are coming off a chance to rest, recharge and prepare during the offseason. They have a clean, or mostly clean, slate, depending on whether they played any tune-up matches. Some show up with wrinkles in their playing style. Some arrive with a new coach, eager to see how the relationship might work out.

Story lines and areas of intrigue tend to be plentiful in Melbourne. As it is, this time was destined to be a little different, given the noteworthy players who are absent for one reason or another, including Federer, Serena Williams and Venus Williams.

Djokovic didn't feel that he had to follow the rules of science so, Australia released him to go home and play by his own rules safely in his own backyard! Next worthy tennis contestant!

and whit out players its no australian open. Every person itself it's more important and value than any event

LOL, rnadalacademy trying to sway public opinion about a situation that is obviously political is weak. You can garner all the sympathy in the world, but this won't improve your chances of beating DjokerNole

And individual freedom and confidence in Science and govt. is more important than any Tennis tournament.

me too....

Nadal just wants a better chance to win.

Ciertamente, pero en cualquier evento , son los jugadores quienes lo conforman esencialmente. En La organización , son ellos los de vanguardia

He learns from nothing.

Agree

While I'm reading these comments here, I didn't know that the Australian government brainwashed you so well. They succeed. Bye, bye your freedom. 🤡😂 Buy bitcoin

Where can I make a bet, that one player will colapse during tennis play in Australia. Because of climate changes of course. 🤡🤡 Buy bitcoin

No person is above the law or above the health of other human beings. Even if he is a millionaire athlete. Australia has done very well to enforce its laws.

يحاولون ويحاولون ويحاولون بلا توقف

He is right and very humble indeed . You have to follow the rules of the host country. Perhaps Novak can learn a thing or two from Nadal .

He ain't wrong, Federer, Bjorn Borg, greatest male tennis players. Rules apply to everyone 🇦🇺

Get vaccinated/boosted, wear a mask, social distance & go about your business safely. Why? B/c THERE'S just NO GETTING AROUND IT. It's up to all of us to choose to come together to stop the spread to end the pandemic. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Just do right.

So is everyone else. Move on. A lot more important news happening

fascism has no place in this world. Nadal and others should back out in support of Novak.

AustralianOpen and Australia Government are the poster child for who can be the dumbest, most unwitting and clumsy people on the planet when it comes to Covid, and I fear ALL future virus related issues. So what are they doing about the flu & common cold

Well … maybe he’s sucked all the joy out of this tournament

Most fans are tired of Australia.

I'm tired of his nonchalant attitude towards the covid virus. Shouldn't treat him better cause he didn't follow rules. If someone got sick badly, in his family, he'd get this. Sports people can't get why they're looked up to for examples You have a huge platform!! Vaccinate!

I never thought of meeting a legit bitcoin trader after been scammed many times at my age but the heavens sent Michael90078 guided me and help me make a living through bitcoin with my cash app, I recommend you to meet her now and also be a beneficiary of good work

Stay home and watch TV and don't play tennis if you don't trust science

I watched the trial. He wasn't allowed to stay because his antivaccine thoughts (even though he never said people should not get vaccinated, they admitted to that) will stop people from getting boosters. This is too Orwellian. Punished for his thoughts.

Nadal é um verme.

Pobre serbio que renuncia a todo por sus creencias en antivacunas. O tal vez solo esperaba desafiar el sistema.

RafaelNadal Kindly try & keep quiet This conversation is above ur pay grade U dont have to show solidarity or take a position. Just keep quiet Let those who actually use their brain cells for productive endeavors handle this conversation Medical evidence of natural immunity!

Vaccinated and Non-vaccinated: both spread the virus if, IF, they test positive. So, why forcing the vaccine? PS. I had two shots.

Bitcoin is good since i met with marcusjailson1 I've made alot of profit from his company platform and he has honestly made life more easy for me, invest now with his platform and make $10k daily Follow him

'The health and safety of everyone on the tennis court (and by extension their families) is much more important than one douchebag's over-inflated ego' is how I would put it, but yes.

This is a stupid statement.

Can’t wait to watch this episode of Border Force Australia when it hits our screens! Emmy

I always knew that Rafa was smarter than Novak.

Exacrly! Without it the entire world would collapse

Well he is gone now and good riddance. Don’t let the door hit you on the arse in the way out!

Can the media and tennis community go back to talking about Peng Shuai since she’s in actual potential danger especially during this new found attention around the AusOpen. PengShuai

TEAM WORK?

And freedom is more important than any tennis tournament...

Forget him he knew this would happen & still went ahead its about tennis not d

Djokovic is another example of a spoiled Millenial. Doesn't want to follow the rules and then pouts when he doesn't get his way.

If you don't let the best compete the Open is a farce and any win in Novak's category is phony.

Just a Game. Does not apply to White Guys.

That's amazing journey with you 💝 I just received this on my bitcoin.com wallet thanks Mr Hendricksnino77 for his profits don't doubt his words this guy is gentlemen and God 🙏 sent 🇿🇦🇿🇦 interested persons 👉Connect with him directly on WhatsApp

Novax should just go home. Few people want him here. Had his chance to get vaxed and choose not too - which is fine, but choices have outcomes.

If he doesn’t want to get vaccinated ok then that’s his business his choice. But he HAS to follow the rules of the sport like everyone else . There are consequences for some things and and this is one . I’m sick of athletes trying to get away with things .

Shame On Him...

Rafael Nadal is correct. Like if you agree.

of course....
