Vice President Kamala Harris, a multihyphenate of history making's Inauguration look was steeped in added significance.

On the momentous occasion that marked the changing of the guard in American leadership Wednesday, purple seemed the color to usher in a new era.

Vice President Kamala Harris, a multihyphenate of history making — the first female vice president, the first Black vice president, the first Asian-American vice president, the first vice president to wear a look from a young Black designer — donned the color, wearing a dress and coat by Christopher John Rogers, winner of the 2020 CFDA Fashion Award for American Emerging Designer.

Hillary Clinton, who was also in attendance at the event, wore a purple Ralph Lauren pantsuit. It was the same color she wore during her concession speech to Donald Trump in 2016.
