for black and Hispanic adults in the United States, that progress appears to have stalled, according to new research.
Those gains narrowed the gap in insurance coverage between Americans of color and white Americans until 2016. Beginning that year, that progress came to a halt, with the gap increasing slightly for blacks and only decreasing slightly for Hispanics by 2018.The study examined federal survey data between 2013 and 2018 from adults ages 18 to 64, to determine how the ACA affected racial and ethnic disparities in health care.
In this June 26, 2018, file photo, demonstrators hold signs as Democratic leaders speak with reporters outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC.In addition to examining the rate of uninsured adults, a key measure of health care access, the researchers also looked at Americans who went withoutbecause of cost during the previous year, as well as whether or not survey respondents said they had a regular health care provider.
The ACA broke the middle class.
Congress is too busy AVOIDING such real work while they look for camera ops at the FAKE PARTISAN IMPEACHMENT CHARADE!
Of course progress has been stalled. There is active sabotage by the President and the GOP.
As with Social Security and Medicare our past Congresses fixed problems with the laws. They COOPERATED with each other to make sure the people they serve were protected.ACA needed fixes, updates and smoothing out rough spots. Today's Congress couldn't cooperate to save nothing
By the way, if you're going to choose to call a group of people 'black' put some respect on that and capitalize the B, just like you did the H in Hispanic.
The ACA was a complete failure. Democrats didn’t even read it. abc has completely lost all credibility!
Nancy's district:
I work in the industry. We offer NO COST plans for Medicare and Medicaid recipients. IN FACT, those who qualify for both, aka DSNP, get HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS for things like diapers, free transportation. Failure to sign up is a shame, born of ignorance thanks to misleading news
How about all the states that refuse it. It’s not the act itself, it’s the republicans that are blocking it at the state level.
It was unaffordable, and practically useless. It cost 200 a month for the cheapest plan, and that plan had a $5000 annual deductible, which means somebody taking home $12,000 a year could be paying almost half their income to healthcare, and the plan still wouldn't be paying out.
Shouldn’t have to be in debt for the rest of my life just for winning the battle with cancer.
Most likely because Trump does not care about anything other than white.
Um...DUH. Really? THIS is what you consider news? Of course it has stalled...Trump and the GOP have tried their best to kill the ACA little by little. Even Helen Keller can see that.
One word...TRUMP. ImpeachedForever ImpeachedAndAfraid TrumpIsAWarCriminal
