shares rallied in the extended session Thursday after the business software company's quarterly earnings and outlook topped Wall Street estimates. Progress Software shares surged 13% after hours, following a 1.9% rise to close the regular session at $40.63. The company reported second-quarter net income of $8.2 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with $12.9 million, or 28 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings were 65 cents a share. Revenue rose to $100 million from $92.
