A choice downtown Oakland site in the city’s trendy and hip Uptown neighborhood has been bought by a savvy and experienced developer.

OAKLAND — A prime location in downtown Oakland’s hip and trendy Uptown district has been bought by an experienced and savvy real estate developer, public documents show.

The real estate firm paid $12 million for two parcels that have addresses of 2600 and 2630 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, the county real estate records show.The company’s projects include a proposed residential tower in downtown Berkeley, retail and office buildings in San Francisco’s Union Square and a north San Jose tech campus.

The Uptown district where Grosvenor has bought the sites on Telegraph Avenue is a hip and trendy Oakland neighborhood that’s dotted with restaurants, entertainment, theaters, nightclubs and cocktail lounges. Recently, the Kissel Uptown Oakland, part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, opened its doors, adding 168 rooms at 2455 Broadway. The hotel also contains 74 apartment residences.
