Interviews are supposed to help employers find the best candidate for a job, and determine if that person is a good fit for their company. Research suggests they accomplish neither.

, and the value of an interview appears intuitive—“Of course I’ll have a better sense of this person after meeting them.”

Finally, when a certain ritual persists despite failing to serve its stated purpose, it is prudent to search for an alternative, unstated reasons that may account for its perseverance. For example, an enjoyable unstructured interview experience may strengthen the interviewee’s commitment to the hiring process. An interview may not help you select the best applicant, but it may increase the odds that the applicant you’ve selected will accept your offer.

In addition, interviewers may rely on the interview as a means of uncovering some important personal information about the interviewee, such as someof appearance or personality that may constitute a deal-breaker . I dont think HR is truly aware of the hiring managers needs. That is why agencies and headhunters are contacted so often. They bypass HR in order to get the people they need. HR focus is more on personality than actual merit. A group of people who have no idea how to do the job.

HR is mostly disconnected from the business goals and Fail to understand how the hired can or may not have a positive contribution to it.When discussing a team with HR,capabilities comes last and you have to defend your team performers like they are a kind not welcome.

I think it's also supposed to help employees find the best position, and determine if that company is a good fit for their job and career requirements. That side always seems to get lost in the discussion.

I’m retired now but my advice would be to say “You called me. I will make mistakes and need help for a bit but then I’ll be on my way doing this job you won’t be able to stop me”

'[W]hen a certain ritual persists despite failing to serve its stated purpose, it is prudent to search for an alternative, unstated reasons that may account for its perseverance.' So, we're just going to ignore this paragraph & claim that 'job interviews are useless and unfair'?
