In this image made from video, New South Wales state police Acting Inspector Darren Williams speaks about child drivers during a news conference in Coffs Harbour, Australia, Monday, July 15, 2019. Four children aged 10 to 14 packed fishing rods in a parent's SUV, left a farewell note then drove more than 1,000 kilometers down the Australian east coast before they were stopped by police the next day, an officer said on Monday.
When the children were stopped by police near Grafton in New South Wales state at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, they locked the doors and refused to get out, Acting Police Inspector Darren Williams said. Police were not sure which child or children drove or why they left Rockhampton in Queensland state on Saturday. The children are a 14-year-old boy, two 13-year-old boys and a 10-year-old girl.“It’s a long way, in excess of 1,000 kilometers from Rockhampton down to Grafton. I couldn’t imagine one person actually driving all that way in two days,” Williams told reporters.
They were also chased by police in the New South Wales town of Glen Innes, where a 13-year-old was suspected to be driving, Williams said.

Do they have plans for spring break?
This Stand by Me sequel seems lit.
Ballers
“And that’s why you always leave a note!”
Impressive
Drove 600 miles in a SUV? What’s the gas mileage? They had money to pay for gas? Why so far to go fishing?
This was planned but could be on a spur bc at that age the world is appealing &freedom is the main object. It ended well. The world changed right at that moment. Adults are not in charge. Nope
I'd watch that movie! 🎥
Wow. Glad they are safe.
They couldn't wait until the kids had been questioned before writing the article? Now we gotta wait for the movie to get all our answers.
national news there...
The best part of the story 😆
I like everything I see here.
Give children a fish and you feed them for a day, teach children how to fish and they rob your truck.
I guess this is what is called lack of parental with-it-ness.
Badasses!
The police abandoned a pursuit because it endangered the fleeing children... let that sink in America.
They'll grow up and remember, 'oh the good old days' I envy them.
Too funny!
This sounds like the 1970’s in San Francisco California
The police don't know any details lol

Now a days kids grow up too fast.
Let me know when the movie comes out.
Evidently SUVs in Australia get the greatest Gas mileage I've ever heard of...
I’m gonna need some video for this...
I hope this is made into a movie
what's the issue here
Road trips are always fun. This one will also be memorable.
Tis is what happens when kids read books. Like Mark Twain.
Was their oldest son named R.P McMurphy?
😲
Yeah Ok but did they catch anything?
Strong urge to get away and go fishing. I know the feeling.
I bet all four kids could write a more compelling story about this incident. Hopefully in a few days there will be more details.
Goonies never say die
peterjhasson Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi !!!!!!
Really ... now did they manage to refuel to dive 600 miles?
