Officials say Ripley faked her son's abduction and instead led him to the canal where he drowned. Court records show 45-year-old Patricia Ripley is facing a first-degree murder charge. Her son was 9-year-old Alejandro Ripley and was autistic. The boy's body was found early Friday, May 22, 2020 at a golf course canal.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said Patricia Ripley, 45, is facing attempted and premeditated murder charges and being held in jail with no bond. No attorney was listed in jail records.In an interview Saturday, Fernandez Rundle said Ripley apparently tried to drown her son an hour earlier at a different canal but nearby residents heard yelling and rescued him. Then, Fernandez Rundle said, Ripley drove her son to another canal.
Fernandez Rundle also noted that because the boy was nonverbal, he could not have told his initial rescuers what had happened with his mother.
Mental issues? Attempted once. The child was rescued. Attempted 2nd time. Murder.
But what I can't understand is HOW does she get possession of her son after the first attempt! Where were the cops? Were they called after the residents 'rescued' the kid? He's autistic. Even if they didn't want to believe she tried to kill him, she was negligent, at least ?!!
I called this as soon as I first read about the “abduction.”

Should she be put to death? He was a burden to her. She was incapable of loving a child. Drowning, is indisputably a horrifying experience. She claims he is in a better place. I believe that. But she sent him there, with terror in his innocent, young heart and mind.
