The country wants no deal anyway so they get paid nothing.
Hate to say this, but UK has the upper hand. BOE has more firepower than the ECB has. ECB already recklessly has negative interest rates and QE implemented in the EU. And BorisJohnson probably already knows this. A hard Brexit would hurt the EU more than it would the UK.

The EU had Theresa May to negotiate a good deal with; they bluffed. Now they have Boris Johnson who is calling their bluff. If Russia can survive EU and US sanctions, why can't Great Britain survive a No Deal Brexit? Difficult to understand.
Mr Johnson does not seem to realise that the UK will have to negotiate a trade agreement with the EU after Brexit.
