“Fifteen hundred people died in that wreck,” said Paul Johnston, curator of maritime history at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. “You can’t possibly tell me that some human remains aren’t buried deep somewhere where there are no currents.” But the U.S. government filed a legal challenge in June, claiming the undertaking would violate federal law and a pact with Britain recognizing the wreck as a memorial site. U.S. attorneys argue the agreement regulates entry into the wreck to ensure its hull, artifacts and “any human remains” are undisturbed. The Titanic was traveling from England to New York in 1912 when it struck an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic. The wreck was discovered in 1985.

“Issues like this are used simply to raise public support," Hunchak said. “It creates a visceral reaction for everybody.” “But generally that doesn’t happen,” said Gallo, who previously worked at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and has been involved in several Titanic expeditions.

“Yet whale bones have been discovered at similar depths, as were human remains on a 2009 Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic.” The editor didn’t point out the obvious difference here?

Why what's the point ?

No story about Hunter Biden’s laptop that shows him abusing women and emails showing how Joe and him stole billions for Joe and his influence. They sold out America at each place Joe showed up at. WHERE is the reports they hide to protect Joe and his crime family

Leave the human remains but why not bring up artifacts. U can fill up a entire museum. Soon enough that ship is going to be destroyed. Just sayin

Yes, let’s not go and do anything where anyone ever died, and see how that works out.

VOTE FOR JOE BIDEN… Elect someone who does NOT use too much makeup!

are we really spending money o this

Why do they need the radio? Leave it alone.

This is a grave site even though the bodies are long gone it’s still wrong. LEAVE IT BE!

Boo. Who cares about the radio? Exhibit a replica. Don’t destroy history. Honor it.

I am all for history and science and learning but we need to just leave that wreck alone now. It's a memorial to all the lives lost.

Uose alla gonna dyelorate. Soon I predict the covid death rate decreases in this overall numbers madness because their aren't enough people to Keep It Up. So let me push covid shots for vaccination while having the new flu and of course at least 2 flu types per covid catch fight.

How deep is titanic drowned? I would like swim and gather all those product antiques for antiques collection.. Govt can keep human remains.. i need only antiques

Why debate...just go check.

R.I.P TITANIC 1 LIKE=For Titanic😢😢😢❤

A miracle of late-Victorian engineering, the Titanic's swimming pool is still filled with water.

An aurora that lit up the sky over the Titanic might explain why it sank

The carcasses no longer exist, so it was certain that they were the meal of a shark

Hello, please check out my gig if you need any kind of graphic design.

money will find a way to argue that it doesn't and add an 'in the public interest' to the debate. But once again it is about a rich bounty.

The titanic should be a Museum, and preserved.

How long does someone have to be dead before you can dig them back up?

7NY In ten years or so it’s gonna be gone anyways it’s rusting so fast soon it will be nothing

AND YOU WONDER WHY IS HALF THE WORLD SO FUCKED UP, NO RESPECT! THEY WONT STOP WITH. THE RADIO, IT'S. LIKE ROBING SOMEONE AFTER THEY DIED

Great news, hopefully the truth about the titanic will all come out👍😊

And? Meaning?

Somethings that are most certainly off the ship are the musical instruments used to play 'Nearer My God to Thee' as the Titanic was sinking.

Leave it alone

I dunno. Excavate it and then let me know if you run into any skeletons.

Leave the remains be. If there’s historical context to be gained by collecting the radio, do so if it’s possible. But don’t desecrate what is essentially a minefield of human graves in the process.

🤦🏼‍♂️ there are no human remains in titanic

No one complained about digging up Egyptian mummies so what is the difference

7NY Leo is down there cause his girl wouldn’t let him on the door. ..

GraveRobbers

Of course it does.

Thought it was designated as a grave?

Leave the Titanic alone. Let the dead rest in peace.

It's not important to use (,) in English?

they need the radio to to see the final messages
